Wet extraction is more effective than dry vacuuming or wiping the surface with a cloth, because the cleaning solution is injected deep into the fabric fibres and immediately extracted back out along with the dirt.
The Kärcher Puzzi 8/1 is suitable for most fabric upholstery — cotton, polyester, linen blends and other materials suited to wet cleaning. Before you start, always check the manufacturer's care label (usually found under the sofa cushions or on the side).
Before wet cleaning, thoroughly vacuum the sofa with a regular vacuum cleaner to remove surface dust and dirt. It's a good idea to treat tough stains (coffee, red wine, grease) with a stain remover and let it sit for a few minutes before using the Kärcher Puzzi 8/1.
Use a moderate amount of cleaning solution — excess moisture extends drying time and can cause water marks or even a risk of mould in the foam beneath the fabric. Several light passes work better than one very wet one.
A sofa typically dries within 4–8 hours in a well-ventilated room. To speed up drying, open windows, use a fan or a dehumidifier, and avoid sitting on the furniture while it's still damp.
Wet extraction is an effective way to reduce pet odour, since it draws odour-causing particles out from deep within the fabric layers rather than just masking the surface. For strong or long-standing odours, a second cleaning pass may be needed after full drying.
